Garage Makeover: Painting the Walls and Coating the Floor in One Project

Finished garage with a flake epoxy floor

A new epoxy floor transforms a garage. But if the walls are still bare drywall, stained or scuffed, the space still won't feel finished. Do both together and your garage goes from a storage room to a part of your home.

Because we do both epoxy flooring and interior and exterior painting, you can have one crew handle the whole project.

Why do both at once?

It looks finished

Fresh walls and a new floor together make the whole space feel brand new, not half-done.

One schedule, one crew

You empty the garage once, coordinate with one company and get your space back sooner.

The order is done right

We paint first, so drips and splatter never land on your new floor. Then the floor goes down last.

The order of work

  1. Clear out the garageYou only have to do this once.
  2. Walls and ceilingPatch, tape, prime where needed and paint walls, ceiling and trim.
  3. Floor prepDiamond-grind the concrete and repair cracks.
  4. Floor coatingBase coat, flakes or quartz, then topcoat.
  5. Cure timeThen move back in.

Design ideas

  • Match the walls to the floor. Pick a flake blend first, then pull a wall color from it. Gray and white flake floors look sharp with light gray or white walls.
  • Bright walls, brighter garage. Light wall colors bounce light around, so your garage feels bigger and you can actually see what you're working on.
  • Two-tone walls. A darker color on the bottom few feet hides scuffs from bikes, bins and car doors, with a lighter color above.
  • Don't forget the garage door and trim. A fresh coat inside and out finishes the look from the street too.
  • Use semi-gloss or satin on the walls. It's easier to wipe clean than flat paint. That matters in a garage.

Make it work for you

Once the floor and walls are done, it's the perfect time to add wall storage, slatwall or pegboard, better lighting, a workbench or home-gym area, and cabinets for a clean, organized look.

Planning your project

A typical garage makeover with paint plus floor takes a few days, depending on size, wall condition and the floor system you choose. We'll give you a complete timeline and one estimate for the whole job.
