Epoxy Flooring FAQ
Straight answers about cost, installation, prep and care from a local, family-owned flooring company.
Cost & Estimates
How much does epoxy flooring cost?
Price depends on square footage, the condition of your concrete, how much repair and prep it needs, and the system you choose. Flake and standard epoxy cost less than quartz or metallic. We provide free estimates with an exact price. Get your free estimate.
Are estimates really free?
Yes. No cost and no obligation.
Do you offer financing?
Financing options are coming soon. Ask us about it when you request your estimate and we'll keep you posted. In the meantime, we're happy to talk through ways to fit your project to your budget.
Is my project too small (or too big)?
No job is too big or too small. We do everything from single-car garages and small repairs to warehouses and large commercial floors. See Commercial & Industrial.
The Floor Itself
How long does an epoxy floor last?
A professionally installed, properly prepped epoxy floor can last many years in a residential garage. How long depends on traffic, the system and maintenance. Commercial floors may eventually need a fresh topcoat in high-traffic lanes, which is much cheaper than starting over.
What's the difference between epoxy and concrete floor paint?
Floor paint is a thin film that sits on top of the concrete and often peels under hot tires. A professional epoxy system is much thicker, bonds to ground concrete, and is far more resistant to wear, chemicals and moisture.
Flake or quartz: which should I choose?
Flake is the most popular for garages and basements: great looks, good texture, excellent value. Quartz is tougher and offers more slip resistance, ideal for commercial kitchens, wet areas and heavy traffic. We'll recommend the right one for your space. Compare Flake and Quartz.
Is metallic epoxy good for basements?
Yes, on a dry slab. We check for moisture during the estimate and will recommend a moisture-mitigating primer or a different system if needed. See Metallic Epoxy.
Is epoxy slippery?
A smooth, high-gloss floor can be slippery when wet. Flake and quartz floors have texture built in, and we can add anti-slip additives to the topcoat for more grip.
Installation
How long does installation take?
Most residential garages and basements take about 1–3 days, depending on size, repairs and the system. Commercial projects vary. We'll give you a timeline with your estimate.
When can I walk or park on it?
Usually light foot traffic after about a day, and vehicles after several days. Exact times depend on the system and temperature, and we'll tell you for your floor.
How do you prepare the concrete?
We diamond-grind the surface so the coating has something to bond to, repair cracks and holes, and remove old coatings. Prep is the most important step in any epoxy floor. Learn about Concrete Surface Preparation.
My concrete is cracked, stained or old. Can it still be coated?
In most cases, yes. Cracks and pits get repaired during prep, and the coating covers stains. Severely damaged or heaving slabs may need concrete work first, and we'll be upfront if that's the case. Have a peeling coating? See Epoxy Floor Repair.
Do I need to empty my garage?
Yes, the floor needs to be clear. We'll let you know when you can move things back in.
Care
How do I clean an epoxy floor?
Sweep or dust-mop regularly, and mop with warm water and a mild cleaner. Avoid soap-heavy cleaners that leave a film. Hose or squeegee out winter salt.
